What happens to my £50?

The Big Summer Lottery is run by Hope for a Child to fund our charitable work in Malawi and to meet the costs of raising funds and running the charity.

We also use around 5% of the profits to support children’s causes here in Guernsey, with an aim to increase this to around 10%.

How it works

We receiving income in the form of ticket sales — in 2025 this totalled £690,650.

Firstly, from this income the direct costs of running the draw are paid, like prizes, advertising, and transaction and lottery platform fees. In 2025 this totalled £264,166.

The remaining proceeds (£426,484 in 2025) go to Hope for a Child general funds, to be used to fund our life-changing charitable work in Malawi (find out more in our latest Hope Report) and meet the core costs of running the charity — like renting a building, fundraising and admin staff salaries and maintaining reserves to help ensure long-term impact.
